Text Box: Vacancy Update
As you may be aware, the Nominating Committee has been actively following up interest from a couple of Probationers, who have recently completed their Ministerial training. Sadly, neither felt called to St Leonard’s at the end of the day, so our search continues.
The Committee is now following up a couple of enquiries from ordained Ministers, so please continue to pray for us as we seek to discern God’s guidance - rest assured, He will not let us down.
It is also, of course, vitally important to continue to support the church through your regular attendance at worship and taking part in the varied activities, which St Leonard’s offers.
Text Box: Bible Study
In response to the recent consultation about opportunities for Bible Study we are starting a session on Wednesday afternoons.
It will take place at 2.30pm and will be led by John Carson.
The initial meeting will take place on 20th January to discuss, and hopefully agree, the topic to be studied.
It is hoped to start a further session on a Thursday evening at a later date. This will be led by Oliver Mitchell. Watch this space for further details.
Text Box: Sharing the Load
Having the words of the praise projected onto the walls during services has undoubtedly improved the singing! However, in order for this to happen each Sunday, a Computer Powerpoint presentation has to be prepared to display all the words. At the moment, the work involved in doing this is falling on a few shoulders. Accepting not everyone is computer literate, it would be good if we had a few more volunteers to join a rota to provide this valuable service.
It would also be good if we had a few volunteers to give Roger some time off occasionally from the sound desk and running the computer Powerpoint during the services.
If you can possibly help out , please speak to Roy Anderson or Ben Worley. Ben is happy to provide full training/instruction in what’s involved for those willing to learn!

Text Box: International Concert Organist Comes to St Leonard’s
On the evening of Saturday 20th March we hope to have a full church to welcome Carlo Curley, popularly known as the ‘Pavarotti of the Organ’, for an unforgettable Organ Spectacular. The charismatic American’s performances have been acclaimed across the globe and he has played in most of the top concert venues, including the Royal Albert Hall and New York’s Carnegie Hall, to name but two. His self-proclaimed mission is to “establish the organ at the forefront of musical instruments, even if it takes the rest of my life.”
We are hugely privileged to have this opportunity, which is offered by Allen Organs to churches, which have purchased one of their instruments. We have decided to set ticket prices at the very reasonable level of £10 (£5 for youngsters under the age of 16) in the hope of attracting folk from a wide area, ranging from Inverness and Easter Ross in the west to Aberdeenshire in the east. Our Fundraising Committee is already gearing up for an intensive publicity campaign to promote the concert through posters, TV, radio and press releases and mail-outs to arts and music groups.
The Organ Spectacular will also feature the Moray Youth Choir, which has earned a growing reputation for high quality musical performances under its Musical Director, Jane Ferguson. To add a local flavour, we are hoping that Anderson’s Primary School Choir will also be performing.
What a marvellous opportunity to bring lots of folk into our church! Tickets will be on sale soon - MacKenzie and Grant, Solicitors, have very kindly agreed to sell tickets for us from their High Street office. Just make sure you get one - and, of course, spread the word as much as you can to all those you think may be interested in coming along.
